Can I install a chemical anchor in cold weather?
Yes, chemical anchors can be installed in cold weather, but extra care is required to ensure proper performance. Low temperatures may slow down the curing process, increase gel time, or reduce bonding strength if the materials are not handled correctly.
Good Use chemical anchors can be applied in environments as cold as 5℃, provided that the substrate temperature remains above 0℃. To ensure reliable curing and bonding, the cartridges should be stored and maintained within a recommended temperature range of 15–25℃ before use.
➤ When working in cold conditions, we suggest the following best practices:
• Use the chemical anchor that is designed for low temperatures, such as GU-500SD advance epoxy or GU-2000 vinylester chemical anchor for cold weather.
• Pre-condition cartridges by storing them in a warm environment before installation.
• Verify curing times in the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), as gel and full cure times will be significantly extended in colder weather.
• Avoid frozen, frosty, or wet substrates, as these may prevent proper bonding between the resin and base material.
• Plan your installation schedule with extra curing time in mind, especially for load-bearing or structural applications.
